Behaviour and Rewards

The School's Behaviour and Rewards strategy is led by Miss Taylor. It is based on a set of balancing statement of reward and discipline that lead students to becoming good citizens. The 10 statements encompass:

  1. Attendance
  2. Uniform
  3. Good Manners
  4. Community Spirit
  5. Good Learning and/or Organisational Skills
  6. Taking Responsibility for Own Learning
  7. Taking Responsibility for Others' Learning
  8. Compliance and Co-operation
  9. Considering the Safety/Welfare of Self/Others
  10. Self Discipline

Each half-term, there is an Awards Ceremony which celebrates success in a number of key area.  At the end of the summer term, there is an assembly to acknowledge the hard work, efforts and results from the year as a whole.  The Awards Ceremony includes:

  • Conduct Awards
    • Certificates for students with no negative report sheets in the previous half term.
    • A draw held three times per year for students with no report sheets since the start of the school year (September to date).  One term with no report sheets = £10 draw, two terms = £25, three terms = £50.
  • House Awards
    • Housepoint winners
      • The winning house for the previous half term
      • The winning house overall since the start of the school year (September to date)
    • House cups - 2 per house, awarded to students (criteria decided within each house)
  • Attendance Awards
    • 100% attendance
    • 98-99% attendance
    • Form attendance winner
    • House attendance winners
  • Subject Awards
    • Non-examination awards
      • Headteacher's Award (based on staff nominations)
        • KS3 winner
        • KS4 winner
    • Examination awards
      • Examples: Food Hygiene Certificates
  • Other Awards
    • Badge Winners
      • Community Bar (Years 9-11) - must undertake 1/2 to 1 hour of community work each week (eg, tidyiing, gardening, paired reading)
      • Role Model (Years 10-11) - 95%+ attendance, plus no report sheets and must wear their uniform correctly.
      • Prefect (Years 10-11) - automatically received if a student holds a community bar and role model badge.
