Head's Welcome to

Enrichment

At Marshfields

Every student matters at Marshfields School and every decision we take is based on what is in the best interests of the individual student. We firmly believe that the students and staff at Marshfields are its most important asset, with the staff having high expectations and aspirations for our students’ health, safety, happiness, knowledge, skills and independence.

The Enrichment curriculum is designed to offer a holistic, life-skills approach to education. Students will benefit from enhanced opportunities to engage in sensory activities and access to continuous provision within the classroom. The Enrichment Pathway is structured to encourage students to build on the Early Learning Goals and to acquire skills and knowledge across all the areas of the National curriculum.

Objectives are age and stage appropriate, tailored to a thematic approach, ensuring all students access a broad and balanced curriculum where we endeavour to ensure that students develop an enjoyment and enthusiasm for learning.

Students in Key Stage 2 and 3 in Enrichment, Engagement and Enhancement Pathways participate in a structured standardised timetable of lessons. This allows for cross-pathway learning where a student benefits from the pathway as a whole but has a specific area of strength or need for greater development where they can access that subjects' learning through an alternative pathway. Mornings at Marshfields focus on all core learning skills. In the afternoons, students receive broader curriculum experiences.

In Key Stage 4, students on the Enrichment Pathway will work towards Entry Level and Unit Awards qualifications selected to support them in their next steps and, in the long term, in readiness for adulthood. They will have opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications in English, Maths and Science as well as the Marshfields Baccalaureate.

The Marshfields Baccalaureate comprises a bespoke package of AQA Unit Awards on a diverse range of topics in line with the National Curriculum standard offer, adapted to the cognitive levels of the students to ensure accessibility and continuing to promote progress and high aspirations.
